Toad the Wet Sprocket is coming to The Vogue on Sunday, September 19, 2010. Yep, you read that right – Toad the Wet Sprocket – the band behind such 90’s hits as “All I Want” and “Walk on the Ocean”.
Toad the Wet Sprocket isn’t a band that follows norms; for example – they haven’t put out a new album since 1997, but they continue to tour the country from time-to-time in small venues. They “broke-up” in 1998 to pursue other projects, but continue these short-run tours. Lead singer, Glen Phillips, has served as an opening act for the band. The band reunites sometimes for just a short one or two show stint.
Possibly at the center of the band’s lack of conformity is lead singer/guitarist Glen Phillips. Phillips currently has a solo career in addition to being a central figure in at least four other bands – Toad the Wet Sprocket, Works Progress Administration (WPA), RemoteTreeChildren, and Plover. We were lucky enough to see Glen perform with the rest of WPA on the Cayamo cruise this past February. Glen is a fantastic musician.
As you might guess – Indianapolis isn’t a yearly stop for these guys, so we suggest you stop by The Vogue and pick up your tickets – you won’t want to miss this rarity! You can check out Toad the Wet Sprocket’s music at Toad’s Myspace Page.
