Can you believe that in their 10 years of existence as a band, this was Arcade Fire’s first stop in Indianapolis? After some slight venue issues (they were originally slated to open the concert season at The Lawn at White River State Park, but too much rain forced a change of venue), the 2011 Grammy winners finally had a chance to show us Hoosiers in person exactly why they won Album of the Year. Proving that celebrity status isn’t always what matters, this Canadian indie group managed to beat out Eminem and Lady Gaga for the prestigious award.
As if Arcade Fire’s latest album, The Suburbs, isn’t a solid enough showing of their talent – their live show is even better. Not only do they have an eye-catching stage setup, featuring a vintage-looking marquee and a large screen constantly showing some rather interesting video clips, but the seven piece band is very high-energy. This group loves what they do, and it shows. I’ll let the pictures do the talking now – enjoy.
